About

Here’s a vinous story that embraces three continents, yet is firmly rooted in the fertile soils of the Breede River valley. Lozärn wines are handcrafted on the Doornbosch farm in Bonnievale by Salome Buys-Vermeulen, the winner of the 2021 Woman Winemaker competition.

Product Features
  • Awards: Gold Gilbert & Gaillard, 91 Points James Suckling, Gold Vitis Vinifera.
  • Planted in 2018 on the typical Karoo weathered clay soil of the Robertson Wine Valley, this cultivar can easily bear large bunches.
  • During the summer, the vines are carefully managed to ensure the harvest of fully matured bunches.
  • It’s also the first red cultivar of the season to come into the cellar.
  • Matured in 1-3 fill barrels for 12 months (10 % new wood).
  • Picked in small crates and kept in the cold room overnight before being processed and sorted the following day.
  • Grapes were fermented on the skins for 12 days before it was pressed and racked to the barrels. Blocks were blended in April 2023.
  • This wine showcases a herbaceous nose with red cherry and ripe red fruit, complemented by a hint of cranberry and leathery spice on the aftertaste.
